Our journey didn’t take us to many touristy spots as our intent was to see rural areas and not be tourists. However, I’ve always loved walking through caverns since my first ones were as a little kid in Virginia.

How To Prepare Your Visit To The Cavern

Be prepared to walk around for at least an hour and a half with over 400 steps. The temperature inside the cavern was in the mid 50’s and you walked through some water so have waterproof shoes or sneakers.

The Tuckaleechee caverns tickets are $24 for an adult and $12 for children, under the age of 4 is free.

For us driving for thousands of miles, it gave us a chance to get out and walk and stretch our legs. Something I wish I did more of as I’m still sore being home a few days from the 17-day road trip.

There were many caverns to visit all around Tennessee, Virginia and even Pennsylvania as we found on our road trip up and down the east coast.

We went to the Luray Caverns in Virginia but were disappointed as it became a “Walt Disney World” of caverns and we left without entering. I had gone as a child and wanted to revisit them. It was too crowded and crazy to attempt it.
